Beowulf History
Beowulf has been translated into over twenty different languages
Out of the thirty thousand lines of literature left behind from the Anglo-Saxon period, the translation of Beowulf made up at least 4,000 of these, the Epic hero with the strength of thirty men in just one arm. The story takes place in sixth century Denmark, some historians argue that it actually took place in Sweden, as well as Denmark, Poland, 'the Low Countries,' and Germany. Within the composition of the Poem, many of the characters were real: The Great king Hygelac, Hrothgar, Ongenthrow, Haethcyn, Onela and Heardred. As well as the Ravenswood Battle that took place in 510 AD is also true.
